I don’t drink and I never have. I was the girl in high school who everyone thought was really wild because I skipped a lot of school and went to a lot of concerts, but I was usually just at home reading Jane Austen.
Favorite age so far and why?
I feel like I really hit my prime when I was 10. I had a killer A-line bob, the coolest friends in the 5th grade and I always got straight A’s. I was too young to care too much about how I looked, but old enough to be social and hang out with friends. We were into super nerdy things like cross-stitching fabric bookmarks with our names on them and super “cool” things like writing love letters with kiss marks all over them to Brad Pitt and JTT (that means Johnathan Taylor Thomas in case you didn’t grow up in the 90s).
I also really love being 31. In some ways I’m back to my 10 year-old self. Somewhere along the way I stopped caring so much about what other people thought and got back to just having fun with the people I am totally myself with.
What do you admire most in others?
The kind of person who does big things, quietly.
Immediate turn off?
People who, in an attempt to mask their own insecurities, put down people around them.
Something that makes you smile?
My husband. Almost 10 years in and he still knows just what to say.
Biggest insecurity or fear?
Murky, deep bodies of water and not seizing the day.
When do you feel like the best version of yourself?
When I am taking care of myself. It’s so easy as a mom and business owner to feel run down, trying to take care of a million other things and people before even my most basic needs. Just taking 30 minutes to exercise each day can be the difference in my sanity.
Words you live by?
“There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth.” Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace
Something you have yet to figure out?
The list is too long, but let’s start with all the things people are doing with their eyebrows right now. Tinting, braiding, tattooing? I feel so stressed out about all of the things I don’t know.
Something you have figured out?
That love is the answer to just about everything. Still working on the living it part so maybe I can’t say I’ve really figured it out.I do make a fierce pb&j sandwich, though. Figured that out years ago. It’s all about spreading the jam and peanut butter all the way to the edges.
